Kids Programs

 

Our kids & family yoga programs offer children a safe and supportive environment to begin their yoga practice with play and joy! Our classes engage young ones through interactive yoga poses, as well as yoga inspired books, music, and games.  Children will also practice meditation and relaxation through fun breathing techniques and positive affirmations, which encourage and reinforce peacefulness, confidence, and compassion. Most importantly they will have fun while they learn this ancient practice that becomes a valuable tool for overall health and well-being at any age.

  Children who practice yoga:

    • Build self-awareness and confidence
    • Increase focus and attention
    • Learn to cope with stress more effectively
    • Learn how to self-sooth, relax, and sleep better

Kids Yoga

Our Kids Yoga classes offer children a safe and positive environment to begin their yoga practice with play and joy! Classes include yoga inspired games, books, and interactive poses where they will learn valuable motor skills and build self-confidence and self-awareness, while improving flexibility, balance, and coordination. Yoga also helps to increase focus and awareness, and improves overall health and wellness by building strong bodies and minds. Through yoga poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation, kids will gain an overall sense of well-being in a fun and supportive environment.

*Ages 5-8 years old. Each session lasts 6-8 weeks and space is limited.  Next Session TBA.  Please see our class schedule to register for current or upcoming classes.   Students should bring their own mats, however, mats are available to borrow.

 

Tween Yoga

Tween Yoga offers pre-teens a safe place to begin practicing mindfulness and developing their yoga practice at a time where stress and peer pressure can begin to set in and build. Yoga and meditation are powerful tools for stress management, and also help to increase focus and awareness. Yoga also helps to improve overall health and wellness by building strong bodies and minds, while improving balance, coordination, and flexibility. Through yoga poses, breathing exercises, meditation and relaxation, students will gain an overall sense of well-being, while building confidence in a positive and supportive environment.

*Tweens ages 9-12 years old. Each session lasts 6-8 weeks and space is limited.  Next Session TBA.  Please see our class schedule to register for current or upcoming classes.   Students should bring their own mats, however, mats are available to borrow.

 

Kids Family Yoga

Bring play to your practice and spend time with the family! This class focuses on engaging younger children (from 4-8 yrs old) and offers them a safe and supportive space to begin their yoga practice with play and joy. Classes include yoga inspired games and interactive poses where they will learn valuable motor skills, building self-confidence and self-awareness, while improving flexibility, balance, and coordination. Through Yoga poses, breathing exercises, and relaxation, children will gain an overall sense of well being in a fun and positive environment. Yoga helps to increase focus and awareness by building strong bodies and minds and improves health and wellness for the whole family!

*All ages and abilities are welcome.  Space is limited.  Next Session TBA.  Please see our class schedule to register for current or upcoming classes.   Students should bring their own mats, however, mats are available to borrow.

 

On-site After School Yoga & Dance Program

Valuable motor skills, awareness, poise, strength, flexibility, and musicality can all be learned from the comfort and convenience of your child’s school.  Offering them a fun and effective way to begin their journey into the creative and unlimited world of dance and yoga.

Students will explore qualities of movement, pathways in space, rhythmic structures, and creative expression, all while gaining self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment in a safe and supportive environment.

Children who practice yoga:

Dress/Footwear:

    • Dance leotards and dresses may be worn, but are not required.
    • Students should be dressed prior to class.  Teachers are not responsible for changing dancers clothes or for lost items.
    • Ballet shoes are required and can be found at Capezio Dance Theater in downtown San Mateo.
    • Please dress your child in comfortable, flexible clothing on day of class. Students should be able to move and stretch freely.
